The band's acclaimed new album 'Love Hate Music Box' is out now

Returning to the road this fall, genre-bending live sensations Rainbow Kitten Surprise share the dates for their biggest North American headline run yet, the Love Hate Music Box Tour. Kicking off on September 9 in Indianapolis, IN at Everwise Amphitheater, this jaunt notably sees the band level up to an arena headliner. The gigs at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC on October 25 and PNC Arena in Raleigh, NC on October 26 will be theirbiggest ticketed shows ever and their first arena headline dates. The tour notably includes two evenings in Los Angeles, CA on November 14-15 at The Palladium and a stop at Radio City Music Hall in New York, NY before finally coming to a close on November 25 at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, CA.

Renowned for the inimitable stage presence, electrifying energy, and unforgettable sets, the Love Hate Music Box Tour promises to be a must-see event for diehard fans and new converts alike!

Making the most of their time on the road by giving back nightly, Rainbow Kitten Surprise has partnered with Plus1 so that $1 per ticket goes towards local organizations delivering mental health treatment, access to care, and support for the LGBTQ+ community.

Right out of the gate, the record earned widespread acclaim. PASTE extensively profiled the band and proclaimed, “This new era of Rainbow Kitten Surprise is all about rebirth,” while Consequence featured an extensive deep-dive track-by-track. Touting it on the weekly “New Music Roundup,” V Magazine raved, “Rainbow Kitten Surprise is back with their first full-length album in six years – and it’s proven to be well worth the wait.”

Not to mention, Billboard named it among “Queer Jams of the Week” and applauded it as “a sprawling 22-track LP that throws the band’s established sound out the window, aiming for bolder, brighter sounds in pop, rock, dance and Americana, all while maintaining some of the sharpest songwriting in the group’s history courtesy of frontperson Ela Melo.”

Right now, the group are in the midst of their Tiny Music Box Tour, a run of underplay shows that feature differing set lists each night, highlighting material from LOVE HATE MUSIC BOX alongside fan-favorites from throughout the band’s beloved discography. Due to overwhelming demand, additional shows had been added to their previously announced 2-night stands in Boston, Austin, and Denver - full routing below. Once again, they also joined forces with Plus 1 to donate $1 per ticket to support organizations delivering mental health treatment and access to care.

The last time the world received a complete body of work from the band was in 2018. Since that time, the North Carolina-bred quartet and longtime friends weathered unimaginable ups and downs. Through it all, their friendship and creative bond only strengthened, empowering them to fearlessly break the mold like never before with 22 tracks stitched together by blood, sweat, tears, and a willingness to sonically push the envelope. At a crossroads between psychedelia, alternative, rock, electronic, country, and hip-hop, RKS reign supreme. Produced by Daniel Tashian(Kacey Musgraves) along with Konrad Snyder (Noah Kahan) and lead singer Ela Melo, the much-anticipated album ponders life’s ups and downs, and traces the turbulent trajectory of relationships, painted out loud in hues of pop, electronic, rock, and hip-hop. As such, it finds the musicians at their most vulnerable, vibrant, and vital.

Simultaneously, Ela Melo shares her story without filter. Walking through flames, she endured mental health turbulence, overcame writer’s block, public tumult, and more to make an artistic statement of a caliber rarely heard in this day-and-age—though it may be more necessary now than ever.

As if channeling another dimension where genres simply don’t exist, Rainbow Kitten Surprise finds harmony in unpredictability – weaving together lyrical poetry, hummable melodies, and a rush of instrumental eccentricities. Now boasting over 2 billion global streams across platforms, the band first began building their devoted fanbase with independent albums SEVEN + MARY(2013) and RKS (2015). In May 2024, Rainbow Kitten Surprise released their first album in six years, LOVE HATE MUSIC BOX. Produced by Daniel Tashian (Kacey Musgraves) along with Konrad Snyder (Noah Kahan) and lead singer Ela Melo, the record is the band’s most vulnerable project yet, and has been met with critical praise from Billboard, Consequence, Paste, and more. LOVE HATE MUSIC BOX follows the band’s breakout full-length debut for Elektra, HOW TO: FRIEND, LOVE, FREEFALL, which arrived in April 2018.
