Donald Glover, known by his stage name Childish Gambino, is a multifaceted artist who has achieved success across various fields in the entertainment industry. Born on September 25, 1983, at Edwards Air Force Base in California, Glover was raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia. His father, Donald Glover Sr., worked for the postal service, and his mother, Beverly, was a daycare provider. Glover's upbringing in a Jehovah's Witness household, combined with his exposure to different cultural influences, shaped his unique perspective and artistic sensibilities.

Glover attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he studied dramatic writing. His early career began in 2006 when he was hired as a writer for the NBC sitcom "30 Rock." During his tenure on the show, Glover received a Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedy Series. He later transitioned to acting, earning recognition for his role as Troy Barnes on the NBC comedy series "Community" (2009-2014).

Under the moniker Childish Gambino, Glover launched his music career. He released his first mixtape, "Sick Boi," in 2008, followed by several others that garnered a cult following. His debut studio album, "Camp," was released in 2011 to critical acclaim. Glover's music is known for its eclectic mix of genres, blending hip-hop, funk, R&B, and soul.

Glover's 2013 album "Because the Internet" solidified his place in the music industry, earning him Grammy nominations. His 2016 album "Awaken, My Love!" featured the hit single "Redbone," which received widespread acclaim and won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance. In 2018, Glover released the politically charged single "This Is America," which became a cultural phenomenon, earning him four Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

Glover's talents extend beyond music and comedy. He created, produced, wrote, and starred in the critically acclaimed FX series "Atlanta," which premiered in 2016. The show explores themes of race, identity, and the music industry, earning Glover several awards, including two Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. In addition to his work on "Atlanta," Glover has appeared in various films, including "The Martian" (2015), "Spider-Man: Homecoming" (2017), and "Solo: A Star Wars Story" (2018), where he portrayed a young Lando Calrissian. He also provided the voice for Simba in Disney's 2019 live-action adaptation of "The Lion King."
